Celebrating Culture and Connection Through a Fresh Brand and Website
Area of workAbout the Project
The Triangle Native American Society (TNAS) has served the Native community across Wake, Johnston, Durham, Orange, and Chatham counties for more than 40 years. As the official urban Indian organization for the region, TNAS provides educational, social, and cultural programs that unite Native families across diverse traditions.
The organization partnered with us to update its brand and redesign its website to better reflect its vibrant community and mission.

The Challenge
TNAS needed a refreshed identity and digital presence that would:
- Capture the vibrancy of the community while honoring their original logo and colors
- Establish cohesive, flexible branding that could be applied across many formats
- Reorganize and simplify their website navigation for clarity and ease of use
- Create a platform to highlight events, initiatives, and ways to get involved
- Provide an easy-to-update website for long-term sustainability
The Idea
Our approach combined their cultural traditions and legacy with a modern website design. In collaboration with TNAS leaders, we built a brand system inspired by Native art, Pow Wow dress, quilting, and beadwork. Those influences came to life through vibrant patterns, simplified motifs, and a fresh color palette.
For the website, we hosted workshops to streamline the structure and designed a bright, welcoming look and feel. We built the site with accessibility and usability in mind, ensuring it serves both community members and new visitors looking to connect or make a donation.
The Work
Branding: refined and simplified the original logo, introduced modern typography, established a culturally inspired color palette, and created hand-drawn patterns from community members
Design System: built a flexible, colorful system to represent events, community, and togetherness while avoiding stereotypical imagery
Website: built on Squarespace with intuitive navigation, an integrated events calendar, and clear paths for joining, donating, or learning more
Development: implemented drag-and-drop editing for easy updates by the TNAS team

The Impact
The redesigned brand and website gave TNAS a vibrant, cohesive identity that celebrates the community’s culture while supporting its mission. The new platform makes it easy for visitors to stay connected—whether by finding upcoming events, joining the community, or donating to support TNAS initiatives.
